  • Two fully completed application forms and declaration duly signed
  • Valid passport (and 2 copies of the ID page)
  • Two recent passport pictures (not older than 6 months) with light background (3.5 x 4.5 cm)
  • If applicable, valid Korean Alien Registration Card
  • Curriculum Vitae including diploma of your degree (or any other proof of academic qualification from a German or non-German university) as well as any certificates of previous work experience 
  • German university degree or any recognised foreign degree equivalent to a German university degree (ANABIN)
  • A covering letter in which you explain how you plan to find employment (branch, region, intended stay/accommodation etc.)
  • Documents showing your financial situation, such as a bank account statement, which prove you can finance your stay in Germany
  • Proof of valid and sufficient private medical insurance in Germany, for example “Incoming” insurances in Germany.
  • If available: proof of your preparation to find employment

You can find out whether your foreign degree is recognised or equivalent in the ANABIN database. Please bring a printout showing the equivalence of the university and the degree.
The documents need to be handed in personally and in original at the consular section of the German Embassy in Seoul. In individual cases, you may be required to provide additional documents.

  • Original and two copies of the employment contract from the German employer with the typical content regarding type of work, tasks, working hours, monthly payment, provisions regarding social security, duration of the employment etc.

  • Original letter of invitation from the German employer including company’s address and contact person.

The documents need to be handed in personally and in original at the consular section of the German Embassy in Seoul. In individual cases, you may be required to provide additional documents.

An entitlement to family reunification exists only for spouses and minor children. The following documents are required in addition to the documents required from the employee:

  • Two fully completed application forms and declaration duly signed
  • Valid passport of the family members (and 2 copies of the ID page)
  • Two recent passport pictures (not older than 6 months) per person with light background (3.5 x 4.5 cm)
  • If applicable, valid Korean Alien Registration Card
  • Original extract from the family register with apostille and German Translation. Documents from other countries / other pertinent documents - Apostille, legalisation or verification procedure might be necessary in individual cases depending on the issuing country. Please consult the website of the German mission in the country of origin.

Yes, application for a Blue Card is possible.
Requirements are:

  • A German or recognised foreign or equivalent foreign higher education qualification (ANABIN)

  • Employment contract or binding employment offer for a job appropriate for the qualification

Highly-qualified foreigners are, in particular, scientists with special technical knowledge, as well as teaching personnel (e.g. professors, institute directors) and scientific personnel in prominent positions (e.g. heads of departments or projects).
